Mother’s Day may be a little over a week and a half away, but it’s never too early to start planning mom’s special day. We all know how hard she works each and every day; why not treat her to a delectable, effortless meal? In celebration of that special woman in your life, we’ve compiled a list of lovely brunch options available across the Valley.

Trailblazer Ballroom at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa

Menu highlights: A host of delectable items ranging from a build-your-own omelet station to fresh seafood selections including jumbo gulf shrimp, Alaskan crab legs, Bangs Island Mussels and lobster bisque to a variety of entrees including a slow-roasted beef tenderloin, Pacific sea bass, and pan-seared pork medallions. Breakfast in bed in luxury in Scottsdale, Arizona

Whether she prefers waffles, french toast, or yogurt parfaits, mom is sure to love a relaxing breakfast in bed!

This fantastic recipe for traditional French Toast from El Chorro in Paradise Valley, Arizona might just be the perfect choice for a decadent start to the day.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf challah, cut into 12 equal slices (can substitute brioche)
  • 10 egg yolks
  • 1 vanilla bean, split & scraped
  • 10 oz granulated sugar
  • 1 qt heavy cream
  • 3 pints mixed seasonal berries (your choice)
  • 2 cups maple syrup
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 qt canola oil

Preparation

  • Mix egg yolks, sugar, vanilla & heavy cream till incorporated.
  • Soak sliced bread until spongy.
  • In a deep sided sauté pan, heat oil to 350 (using candy thermometer)
  • Pan fry bread till golden brown on one side, then flip over to cook the other side. Be careful not to splatter doing multiple batches if pan is not big enough.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Cut toast in ½ corner to corner.
  • Arrange 4 slices per plate.
  • Garnish with berries.
  • Drizzle with maple syrup 2-3oz per plate.
  • Dust liberally with powdered sugar.

Yield: 6 servings
