Parisian Chic- Flea Market Style

Fleamarket

A typically eclectic Paris flea market.

It would come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Camelot Homes that we are utterly enamored with European architecture. As a builder of new, luxury homes we are always on the lookout during our travels at home or abroad, for new and inspiring ways to blend old world themes and artistry with state-of-the-art functionality.

In keeping with what is fresh and new, we strive to create environments in our model homes that will at once inspire our future homeowners with design ideas for the future, but also function at top capability at all times. For the sake of dependability it would not make sense to bring into play even gently used products in our model homes; hence the wonderful world of the antique reproduction!

Here we have two examples of Parisian Flea Market style. Both utterly charming and très chic!

The kitchen of a Houston home features a La Cornue range, counters made of reclaimed 18th-century stone from Chateau Domingue, and vintage barstools found at a Paris flea market.

Some Flea Market Tips:

Go to the Flea Market in the morning as it becomes very crowded in the afternoon.

Hide your wallet under your shirt or wear around your neck. You don’t need a lot of cash anyway, as most dealers accept credit cards.

Don’t bring your passport or any credit cards that you won’t use, just the essentials: you will not need your passport to buy there because antiques do not have VAT for the detaxe refund.

Negotiating: If you love to shop for antiques then you don’t need advice, but remember that everything is negotiable.

You don’t have to complete the sale on the spot; get a mobile phone number and call the dealer the next day to negotiate. If they haven’t had a big weekend they are more willing to give a discount.

Contact a shipper beforehand and they can give you tickets to mark antiques and pick them up the next day for shipment home.

Just remember,

“Paris is always a good idea.”  Audrey Hepburn
